FEATURED BAND IN SUPPORT OF MUSIC EDUCATION THE MICHAEL FOSTER PROJECT |
|
The Michael Foster Project is our featured band in support of music education. The MFP attended two BRMS performances at the Shaw Center and the Dunham School, asking nothing in exchange. Michael and his group have been in support of music education for a long time, and having them be a part of our family at BRMS is very special. Michael, a former band director himself, surrounds himself with extremely well educated musicians, some of which he hired straight out of the LSU and SU schools of music. Years ago, Michael realized one of his dreams when he formed The MFP Save the Music Program. The MFP Save The Music Program is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of education in America’s public schools by restoring music programs in cities across the country, and raising public awareness about the importance of music participation for our nation’s youth. Michael says, “Basically, the program centers on finding resources to provide musical instruments to programs with struggling budgets. Our foundation has teamed with many local partners and sponsors who rent or purchase musical instruments, and then to either allow free use of these instruments or donate them to programs that we find to be suffering with budget cuts. Our job is to determine which schools will benefit from this program.” Michael has made it his goal to affect over one million children’s lives over the next 10 years. To find out more about The MFP Save the Music Program, visit his website at www.michaelfosterproject.com or contact Doug Gay through this website’s “contact us” section. We would love to hear from potential donors. CONGRATULATIONS TO THE MFP FOR BEING DEDICATED TO OUR KIDS!!!!! |
