Stephen Arceneaux is a graduate of St. George Catholic School where he was taught music by Mr. John Gerbrecht and Mrs. Jan Dupre. During his time at St. George, he was the drummer for the All-Parish Honor Jazz Ensemble twice. Stephen also was selected to the All-State Middle School Jazz Band on drums. He was invited to play in the Loyola Jazz festival with the St. George jazz combo and band three times, all in which he won outstanding musician awards. In seventh grade, Stephen was part of the first middle school combo to be invited to the University of North Texas Jazz Festival . One of his more well known accomplishments is the winner of the 2006 National Junior Beta Special Talent Competition. Stephen and pianist Jacob Dupre traveled to North Carolina to compete against other talented kids across the nation. He and Jacob received the first place award. Currently, Stephen is a freshman at Catholic High School and is in the band under the direction of Mr. Duane Leblanc. Recently, Stephen made second chair percussionist in the LMEA District IV Honor Band and first chair percussionist in the East Baton Rouge Parish Honor Band. At Catholic High, Stephen is on drumline and participates in the percussion ensemble and jazz band. Outside of school, Stephen gigs with the Jacob Dupre Trio, a jazz band that performs around Baton Rouge . We are proud to have Steven as a member of our community of young musicians here at BRMS and in the Baton Rouge Area. Steven is an great example of what can be accomplished when you combine your talent with self-discipline and motivation. Congratulations to Steven, his wonderful Middle and High School music teachers, and kudos to his parents for instilling in him a desire for success!!! And thank you Steven, for being you!!! |
